RIP: 'A lovely, pleasant man' - much loved Kilkenny priest passes away

A former Priest in the Diocese of Ossory and the Diocese of Bunbury Australia has passed away.

Kilkenny native Fr Thomas (Tom) McGree's funeral mass took place today (Monday) in his home parish of Lisdowney with many people from the community as well as in Ballycallan and the Rower, where he served for a number of years.

Since news of his passing, many people have expressed their condolences in person and online, shining a light on his valuable contributions at home and in Australia.

"Condolences to all Fr Tom’s family and friends on his death. He spent a couple of years here in The Rower and was a lovely, pleasant man. May his soul rest in peace," one person wrote.

Another person said: "Sincere sympathies to all Fr Tom's family. What a time he gave us all on and off the Altar. We shared some great memories in Graigue Ballycallan's GAA journey. Rest in peace Fr Tom."
