Bridget Anne Holmes (née O'Connor)

The death has occurred of Bridget Anne Holmes (née O’Connor), Leenane, Co. Galway, formerly Duleek, Meath and Kilkenny, passed away peacefully at St. Anne’s Community Nursing unit, Clifden, on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Pre-deceased by her brother John, she leaves her beloved husband John, much loved children Eoin, Patrick, Conor, Anne, and Ruth, sons and daughters-in-law Niamh, Maria, Stephanie, Ben, and Ruairidh, grandchildren Gráinne, Nora, Milo, Hannah, Arlo, Jack, Connie, Ruth, Asher, and Zac, sister-in-law, Anne O’Connor and nieces and nephew, Elish , Mary, Claire, and John Jnr. John and all the family will miss Bridget terribly.

 On Wednesday, January 7, friends are invited to join the family at 12pm for a thoughtful wintry walk from the bridge in Leenane village to the Leenane New Cemetery, where she will be buried at 12.30pm. Family flowers only please. John Moore

The death has occurred of John Moore (FCCA) Columcille, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, after a short illness bravely borne, under the wonderful care of Mr David Fennelly and his oncology team at The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin. Predeceased by his parents Dick and Mary and his brother Con. Sadly missed by his loving siblings Pauline, Richard, Eleanor and Noel, his sisters-in-law Bríd and Terry, nieces Casey, Mary and Erin, nephews Richard, Thomas and Philip, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

John will be reposing at the Mercy side chapel, Church of the Assumption, Thomastown, on Thursday, January 8, from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, pausing for Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, January9, in the main chapel at 12 noon followed by burial in St Mary's New Cemetery, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Lena Downey (née Bowden)

The death has occurred of Lena Downey (née Bowden), Conahy, Jenkinstown, Kilkenny. Lena died in the tender loving care of the staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home, surrounded by her immediate family. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Tom. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her son Seán (Hetherington), daugher-in-law Avril, grandson Séan Óg, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Reposing at Kennedy's Funeral Home, Freshford, R95 C44T, on Thursday, January 8, from 6pm with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm followed by Removal to St. Colman's Church, Conahy, R95 VK46. Funeral Mass in St. Colman's Church on Friday, January 9, at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please. Michael Dooley Junior

The death has occurred of Michael Dooley (Jnr), Old Callan Road, Kilkenny City, suddenly on January 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving and devoted family in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny. Michael will be greatly missed by his heartbroken family, son Tommy, daughter Kirsten, his dad and mam Mick and Rose (née Power), grandchildren Harper-Rose and Penny, brother John, nieces, nephews, extended family, good neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Michael will repose in Shasby’s Funeral Home, Kilkenny City on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm with rosary and vigil prayers at 5.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Sunday (11th) in St. Mary’s Cathedral at 12 noon followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery. The Requiem Mass can be viewed live streamed only here The Dooley Family would like to express their sincere thanks to the emergency services, in particular the ambulance personnel and advanced paramedics HSE and to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Emergency Department in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny who came to Michael’s assistance and also to Noel Murphy Ayrlfield HSE who cared for Michael at home. Jimmy (Harry) McGarry

The death has occurred of Jimmy (Harry) McGarry, De La Salle Place, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny, R95 N9P, and formerly of McDonagh Street. Jimmy passed away on December 31, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital, unexpectedly following an accident. Beloved husband of Martina (née O'Neill) and much loved father of Kayleigh and Kevin. Jimmy will be dearly missed by his heartbroken family, parents Kevin and Kathleen, sisters Sandra and Julie, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Niamh, his darling grandchildren Megan, Ogie, Annabelle, Aoibhín, John, Austin and Gracie, mother-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law Willie and Tony, nephews, nieces, extended family, kind neighbours and his many friends. Predeceased by his father-in-law Michael and brother-in-law Mickey. Jimmy's family would like to sincerely thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the ICU at St. Luke's Hospital for the wonderful care and kindness shown to both Jimmy and themselves during his time with them and also to the paramedics and gardai who first attended to Jimmy.

John (Johnny) Jordan

The death has occurred of John (Johnny) Jordan, Corbally, Limerick and formerly of Callan, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and Greenhills, Loughlinstown. John died suddenly, at Athlunkard House Nursing Home, on Saturday, January 3, 2026. John was a much-loved husband of 63 years by his loving wife Bridie, (recently deceased), his sons Albert, Paul, Brian, Mark, daughters-in-law Heather, Sorcha, Desiree, Suzanne, grandchildren, Glen, Lee, Kim, Latisha, Hazel, Caoimhe, Eadoin, Eoghain, Sam, Aliya and Jake. He will be much missed by his surviving brothers, Jim and Micheal, sisters-in-law Rose, Pauline, Rita, Chrissie and Biddy, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, relatives, friends and all the staff in Athlunkard nursing home.

Johnny will repose at Molloy’s Funeral Home, Callan, Co. Kilkenny (Eircode R95 Y443) on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 10am. Funeral Prayers at 11.15am followed by removal to The Church of the Assumption, Callan (Eircode R95 VK82), arriving for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Kilbride Cemetery, Callan.
