Nellie Brennan (née Coogan)

The death has occurred of Nellie Brennan (née Coogan), Smithstown, Castlecomer, Kilkenny, and resident of Tinnypark Nursing Home, Kilkenny, on January 7, 2026. Peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Paddy, sisters Kitty and Nancy. Sadly missed by her loving daughters, Catherine, Mary, Ann, Celia, Paula and Lorraine, sons, Jimmy, Noel, Pat and Keith, sister Mary , grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlecomer on Thursday, January 8, from 4pm, with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm, followed by removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Castlecomer. Requiem Mass on Friday at 11am. Nellie will be laid to rest thereafter in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral mass can be viewed HERE Family flowers only please. Jason Roche

The death has occurred of Jason Roche, Caisleán Maol, New Ross, Wexford / Inistioge, Kilkenny. Jason passed away peacefully in The Oak Ward, University Hospital Waterford, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Sean Roche (Kileen, Inistioge). Loving husband of Susan, son of Margaret, brother of Michelle, Damien and Aisling. Jason will be sadly missed by his wife, mother, sisters, brother, nieces Emma, Chloe, Abbie, Aoife, Katie, Kiera, nephews Seán Michael, Callum and Jack, brothers-in-law, Brendan and Kierán, sister-in-law Margaret, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing in Ryan’s Funeral Home, New Ross on Thursday, January 8, from 4pm concluding at 7pm. Removal from the funeral home on Friday morning (January 9) to St Mary & Michael’s Parish Church, New Ross arriving for funeral mass at 10am, with burial afterwards in Cappagh Cemetery, Inistioge, Co Kilkenny. James O'Sullivan

The death has occurred of  James O'Sullivan, formerly of Carlow Town and Callan, Co. Kilkenny, born January 25, 1955, passed away peacefully on the January 6, 2026, surrounded by family at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin 8. The former principal of Kilquiggan National School was pre-deceased by his mother Mary, his brother Michael and his sister Maureen. Sadly missed by his loving children Éamonn, Éilíse and Róisín, grandchildren Eve, Ezra, Alana, Daniel and Luke, his siblings John, Pat, Terry and Mairead, along with extended family and friends.

The funeral will be private for family only. There will also be a Farewell Gathering for James on Saturday afternoon, January 10, from 2pm at the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow Town. All are very welcome to attend the Seven Oaks Hotel. No flowers please. John Moore

The death has occurred of John Moore (FCCA) Columcille, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, after a short illness bravely borne, under the wonderful care of Mr David Fennelly and his oncology team at The Blackrock Clinic, Dublin. Predeceased by his parents Dick and Mary and his brother Con. Sadly missed by his loving siblings Pauline, Richard, Eleanor and Noel, his sisters-in-law Bríd and Terry, nieces Casey, Mary and Erin, nephews Richard, Thomas and Philip, extended family, neighbours and many friends.

John will be reposing at the Mercy side chapel, Church of the Assumption, Thomastown, on Thursday, January 8, from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, pausing for Rosary and Vigil Prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Friday, January9, in the main chapel at 12 noon followed by burial in St Mary's New Cemetery, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Lena Downey (née Bowden)

The death has occurred of Lena Downey (née Bowden), Conahy, Jenkinstown, Kilkenny. Lena died in the tender loving care of the staff of Brookhaven Nursing Home, surrounded by her immediate family. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Tom. Sadly missed and remembered with love by her son Seán (Hetherington), daugher-in-law Avril, grandson Séan Óg, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Reposing at Kennedy's Funeral Home, Freshford, R95 C44T, on Thursday, January 8, from 6pm with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 7pm followed by Removal to St. Colman's Church, Conahy, R95 VK46. Funeral Mass in St. Colman's Church on Friday, January 9, at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please. Michael Dooley Junior

The death has occurred of Michael Dooley (Jnr), Old Callan Road, Kilkenny City, suddenly on January 4, 2026 surrounded by his loving and devoted family in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny. Michael will be greatly missed by his heartbroken family, son Tommy, daughter Kirsten, his dad and mam Mick and Rose (née Power), grandchildren Harper-Rose and Penny, brother John, nieces, nephews, extended family, good neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Michael will repose in Shasby’s Funeral Home, Kilkenny City on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 4pm to 7pm with rosary and vigil prayers at 5.30pm. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Sunday (11th) in St. Mary’s Cathedral at 12 noon followed by burial in Foulkstown Cemetery. The Requiem Mass can be viewed live streamed only here The Dooley Family would like to express their sincere thanks to the emergency services, in particular the ambulance personnel and advanced paramedics HSE and to the doctors, nurses and staff in the Emergency Department in St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny who came to Michael’s assistance and also to Noel Murphy Ayrlfield HSE who cared for Michael at home.
