William (Bill) Young

The death has occurred of William (Bill) Young, Manchester, UK and formerly of Drakelands, Kilkenny. Bill passed away on  December 28, 2025, unexpectedly, at his home in Manchester. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Catherine Young, brother Noel and sisters Eleanor (Roche) and Elizabeth (Glynn). Bill will be dearly missed by his loving twin sister Colette, brothers-in-law Ray (O'Higgins) and John (Glynn), sister-in-law Valerie, nephews Robert, David, Raymond, Niall and Barry, nieces Catrina, JoAnn, Niamh and Lucy, extended family and friends in Manchester and Kilkenny.

Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Friday, January 23, from 5pm concluding with Prayers at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday, January 24,  at 11am in St. Mary's Cathedral. Funeral afterwards to St. Kieran's Cemetery. The Requiem Mass will be live streamed here REQUIEM MASS

Paddy May

The death has occurred of Paddy May, Curragh Lane, Skeoughvosteen, Kilkenny. Sadly missed by his loving sister Bridget, nephew Andy, niece Juleen, relatives, kind neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Joyces Funeral Home, Borris from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday. Funeral to arrive at Skeoughvosteen Church for Requiem Mass at 11am on Wednesday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Ellen (Ellie) Heffernan (née Doherty)

The death has occurred of Ellen (Ellie) Heffernan (née Doherty), Rockenham, Ferrybank, Waterford, and late of Coolnaleen, Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny, who died on Monday, January 12, 2026. Ellen passed away peacefully in her 97th year in the tender care of her loving family and all the staff in The South East Palliative Care Centre, Oak Ward, University Hospital Waterford, predeceased by her husband Paddy, son Jimmy, parents Richard and Bridget, brother James, sisters Jo, Bridie and Mary. Ellen will be sadly missed by her loving sons Andy, Dick, John and Nicky, daughters Bridget, Marie, Eileen, Angela and Bernie, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Ellen will be reposing in Power's Funeral Home, Ferrybank, on Wednesday,  January 14, from 5pm followed by removal at 7.45pm to The Sacred Heart Church, Ferrybank, Ellen's Requiem Mass will take place on Thursday, January 15, at 12noon, after which Ellen will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. MASS LINK   DONATIONS LINK

Una Doheny

The death has occurred of Una Doheny, The Paddocks, Kilkenny City and late of Farranrory, Ballingarry (SR) Co. Tipperary, on January 10, 2026 (suddenly) in her 90th year at her home. Predeceased by her husband Bill, sister Kathleen, brothers Niall, John and James and her niece Rita. Una will be sadly missed by her loving daughters Helen and Pauline, son-in-law Patsy, grandson Conor, granddaughter Eimear, her partner Darragh, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Hehir's Funeral Home (R95 FH90) from 5pm on Tuesday, January 13, concluding with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12noon in St. Joseph's Church, Foulkstown followed by interment in the adjoining Cemetery. Family flowers only please. House strictly private.

Alice Curran (née Maher)

The death has occurred of Alice Curran (née Maher), Mangerton Road, Drimnagh and formerly of Clogh, Co. Kilkenny,  January 11, 2026, peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of the staff of The Croft Nursing Home, Inchicore; beloved wife of the late Billy, much loved mam of Ailish, Cormac and Liam and also remembering her late sisters and brothers. Forever loved and sadly missed by her daughter, sons, son-in-law Ben, daughters-in-law Tina and Nicola, grandchildren Erin, Patrick, Sinead, Daniel and Cillian, great-grandchildren Leo and Gracie, brother Eamon, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at the Brian McElroy Funeral Home, Crumlin Village on Tuesday, January 13, from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 14, at 10am in Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Mourne Road followed by burial in St. Patricks Cemetery, Clogh, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny (adjoining cemetery of St. Patricks Church, Clogh) arriving at 2pm approx. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Children’s Health Ireland. Peggy McCarthy (née Fitzpatrick)

The death has occurred of Peggy McCarthy (née Fitzpatrick), Harristown, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. Peggy died unexpectedly on Monday, January 12, 2026. Predeceased by her husband Andy, parents, brothers Pa, Dick and Mick and her sister Maureen (Rockett). Sadly missed by her children Siobhan, Liam, P.J., Denis, Kay (Phelan) and Andrew; her grandchildren Andrew, Richard and Shane McCarthy, Jackie (Brennan), Carol (Kirwan) and Emily McCarthy, Darren and Damien McCarthy, Katelynn, James and Andrew Phelan and Peter, Sinead and Lisa McCarthy; her great grandchildren; her brother Eamonn, her sisters Delia (Casey), Kathleen (Butler) and Alice (McSweeney); her nieces, nephews, daughters in law, son in law, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and her extended family.

Reposing at Walsh’s Funeral Home, new street Carrick-on-Suir on Wednesday, January 14, from 4.30pm followed by removal at 6pm to Templeorum Church. Requiem Mass at 11am on Friday,  January 16, in Templeorum Church followed by burial in the
adjoining cemetery. No flowers, please. Donations, if desired, to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
