The death has occurred of Christine Byrne (née Gormalley), formerly of Kilcreene Lodge, Co. Kilkenny and Achonry, Co. Sligo, onFebruary 3, 2026. Christine assed peacefully while surrounded by her loving family at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin. Beloved wife of Gerry Byrne, cherished mother of Jessica, Gillian and Stephanie, and much-loved sister of Annette, Frank, Stephen, David and Denis. Sadly missed and remembered by all her loving family, sons-in-law Herman and Sean, her adored grandson Luca, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
Removal on Friday morning (February 6) to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Merrion Road, Dublin (D04NX33) arriving for 10am Mass, followed thereafter to Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin (D6WHY98). The death has occurred of Daniel Roche, Yorktown Heights, West Chester, New York, and late of Ballykilaboy, Kilmacow, Co. Kilkenny, who died on Sunday, November 30, 2025, aged 90 years. Daniel passed away peacefully at his home in the tender care of his loving family, predeceased by his parents John and Mary, brother Jack, Richie and Tom, sister Kay (Grant). Daniel will be sadly missed by his loving wife Teresa, sons Daniel (Karen), Kenneth (Carolyn) and Brendan, daughter Pauline (Frank), son-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren Brenna (Erik), Melissa, Molly (Brian), Katelyn, Frankie, Austin (Hana), and Rilea, great grandchildren Scarlett and Callen, sister Alice (Lal Cass), brother Nicky, sisters-in-law Carmen and Kathleen, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Daniel's Requiem Mass took place on Friday, December 5, after which Daniel was laid to rest in Amawalk Hill Cemetery, 2445 Quaker Church Road, Amawalk, NY.
The death has occurred of Michael Larkin, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and formerly of Ballycloven, Co. Kilkenny, after a short illness, in Ashbury Nursing Home on February 2, 2026. Dearly loved as husband for 68 years by Mairead, and as father by Frank, Derek, Ian, Michelle, and Brian who pre-deceased him. He will be missed with sadness also by his daughters-in-law Catherine and Renate, son-in-law Ben, his eight grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and extended family and friends.
Michael’s funeral mass will take place at 10am on Friday, February 6, in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Blackrock (A94 XF34), followed by interment of ashes at Kilternan Park Cemetery.
The death has occurred of Seamus (Jim) Foskin in Seattle Wa. USA, and late of Ballydaw, Mullinavat, Co Kilkenny, on January 29, 2026, aged 89 years. Seamus was born on April 5, 1936, the second son to the late James and Bridie Foskin (née Durney), of Ballydaw. He is survived by his brothers Tommy Foskin, Waterford, John Foskin, Phoenix AZ., Pakey Foskin, Ringville, Petie Foskin, Cratloe, his sisters Ann Lanagan, Clonassey, Brigid Delahunty, London and was a brother to the late Maura Phelan of Coolnaleen, and the late Micheal Foskin, Ballydaw. He is mourned by sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and many cousins and friends in Seattle and his native South Kilkenny.
He will be interned in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Seattle WA.
The death has occurred of Sr. Margaret Mary Cooney, 'Villa Maria', Talbot's Inch, Freshford Road, Kilkenny and late of Basket Hill, Pallasgreen, Co. Limerick, February 3, 2026 (following a long illness bravely borne) in the Barrow Ward, St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by her parents Patrick and Annie, her sisters Patsy (McGrath) and Kathleen (Heffernan), nieces Breda (Ryan) and Anne Marie (Carroll). Sr. Margaret Mary will be inconsolably missed by her sister Nancy (Ryan), her beloved nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Liam, The Sisters of Mercy, 'Villa Maria' and the Southern Branch.
Reposing at 'Villa Maria', Talbot's Inch R95 KC9R on Wednesday, February 4, from 2pm concluding with evening prayer at 5.30pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday at 10.30a.m. in St. Canice's Church, Dean Street, followed by burial in Kilbride Cemetery, Callan, Co. Kilkenny.
The death has occurred of Catherine (Kitty) Carr (née Mooney), Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny and formerly of Castleknock, Dublin, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 in the loving care of the staff of St. Columba’s Hospital, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. Predeceased by her husband Frank. Catherine will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Marie, son Tim, daughter-in-law Sarah, her sister Annette, granddaughters Emma-Jane, Maureen and Isabel and their husbands and partners Walther, Joey and Balazs, great-grandchildren Phillipa, Ben, Charlie and Hunter, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, many friends and especially Peter, Liz and Alice who Catherine has been friends with for the past 50 years.

The death has occurred of David (Davy) Holohan, Daithí Ó hUallacháin (Artist), Wolfe Tone Street and late of Assumption Place, Kilkenny. Daithí, passed away on February 1, 2026, unexpectedly, following an accident. Predeceased by his parents Edmond and Peig and just recently his brother Ned. Beloved father of Shauna. Daithí will be dearly missed by by his loving daughter and her mother Brigid, son-in-law David, his siblings Mary, Jim, Kathleen, Paddy, Johnny, Margaret and Martin, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, friends and all who knew him.

The death has occurred of Tom Cuddihy, Sutton, Howth and formerly of Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny. Tom passed away peacefully at home in his 96th year on January 31, 2026 in the loving care of his family. Beloved husband of the late Lynda Cuddihy (née Shelly) and loving father to Ann, Tom, Conor and Ciara. Eddie passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 surrounded by his family in University Hospital Waterford. pre-deceased by his parents Edward and Ann, brothers and sisters.
