RIP: Landmark Kilkenny bar to close as mark of respect to 'incredible woman'

The Left Bank in Kilkenny City has announced the death of one of its proprietors, Christine Byrne.

Christine and her husband Gerry have run the popular late bar for almost two decades.

"Christine was the heart and soul of Left Bank, creating the magic behind the scenes from day one," they said in a statement.

"In remembrance of this incredible woman, we will be closed on Friday, February 6. We will reopen as usual on Saturday, February 7.

"May she rest in peace," they concluded.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS: Removal on Friday morning (February 6) to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Merrion Road, Dublin (D04NX33) arriving for 10am Mass, followed thereafter to Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin (D6WHY98).
