The death has occurred of Bridget Cashin (née Dowling), The Course, Durrow, Laois / Kilkenny. Bridget passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family while under the wonderful care of the medical staff of Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unity. Bridget is predeceased by her husband Morgan. She is deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by her children John, Paul and Morgan, her daughters in law Cathleen, Mary and Diane, her sister in law Breda, her nine adoring grandchildren Morgan, Rhea, Keith, Nicky, Paul, Ryan, Declan, Beth and Megan, her great grandchildren Kai, Ezra, Lily, Odhrán, Archer and Cora, The O'Brien family, Castleroe, Maganey, her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.
Bridget will repose in The Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow, Co. Laois (R32 CK11) on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5pm pausing for the Rosary at 7pm. Requiem Mass will be on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11am with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. The Cashin family would like to express their deepest appreciation to all the staff at Abbeyleix Community Nursing Unit for the looking after Bridget for the last 16 years. The death has occurred of Liam Keogh, The Commons, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, unexpectedly at his home on February 2, 2026. Predeceased by his parents Mary and Dick Keogh. Deeply regretted by his brothers Christopher, Richard and Danny, his sisters Helen, Pauline, Kathleen and Martina, his brothers in law Chris and Liam, his sisters in law Margaret and Bridie, his aunts Teresa and Annie and his uncle Seamus, also his beloved nieces, nephews, grandnephews, neighbours and friends.
The death has occurred of Fr. John Brendan, late of the diocese of Leeds, originally of Newmarket, Co. Kilkenny. Sadly, passed away at Ouse Nursing Home in York, England on November 24, 2025, aged 97 years. Dearly loved brother to Johanna, James and Carmel and pre-decreased by his brothers Brendan, Gerard, Gay, Willie and his sister Kittie (Sister Sally). A treasured Uncle to his many nephews and nieces and a great friend and companion to many more. He will be remembered very kindly for his quick wit, charm and dedication to the Catholic Church which he served passionately and diligently for 71 years.
Funeral service will take place at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Hugginstown, (Eircode R95 FH74) on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11am. The death has occurred of Christine Byrne (née Gormalley), formerly of Kilcreene Lodge, Co. Kilkenny and Achonry, Co. Sligo, on February 3, 2026. Christine assed peacefully while surrounded by her loving family at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital, Dublin. Beloved wife of Gerry Byrne, cherished mother of Jessica, Gillian and Stephanie, and much-loved sister of Annette, Frank, Stephen, David and Denis. Sadly missed and remembered by all her loving family, sons-in-law Herman and Sean, her adored grandson Luca, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

The death has occurred of Michael Larkin, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and formerly of Ballycloven, Co. Kilkenny, after a short illness, in Ashbury Nursing Home on February 2, 2026. Dearly loved as husband for 68 years by Mairead, and as father by Frank, Derek, Ian, Michelle, and Brian who pre-deceased him. He will be missed with sadness also by his daughters-in-law Catherine and Renate, son-in-law Ben, his eight grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and extended family and friends.
Michael’s funeral mass will take place at 10am on Friday, February 6, in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Blackrock (A94 XF34), followed by interment of ashes at Kilternan Park Cemetery.
The death has occurred of David (Davy) Holohan, Daithí Ó hUallacháin (Artist), Wolfe Tone Street and late of Assumption Place, Kilkenny. Daithí, passed away on February 1, 2026, unexpectedly, following an accident. Predeceased by his parents Edmond and Peig and just recently his brother Ned. Beloved father of Shauna. Daithí will be dearly missed by by his loving daughter and her mother Brigid, son-in-law David, his siblings Mary, Jim, Kathleen, Paddy, Johnny, Margaret and Martin, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours, friends and all who knew him.

The death has occurred of John Byrden, Glashare, Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny, on February 1, 2026, unexpectedly but peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Mary. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his heartbroken wife and best friend Freda, his adored sisters and brother, Marie (Whyte), Helen (Glendon), Hilda (Mackey) and Pat, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, parents-in-law Brian and Liz Mulvany, nieces, nephews, uncle Séan, aunt Stasia, cousins, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The death has occurred of Tom Cuddihy, Sutton, Howth and formerly of Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny. Tom passed away peacefully at home in his 96th year on January 31, 2026 in the loving care of his family. Beloved husband of the late Lynda Cuddihy (née Shelly) and loving father to Ann, Tom, Conor and Ciara. He will be sadly missed by his family, sister Hilda, sons-in law David, Dan and Daniel, daughter-in-law Clare, grandchildren Jennifer, Ciara, Lynda, Thomas, Aoife and Ella, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.
