The death has occurred of Donal O'Neill, Barna, Freshford, Kilkenny

Donal died suddenly at his residence.

Robbie Doherty

The death has occurred of Robbie Doherty, Haggard, Glenmore, Co. Kilkenny, who died on Sunday, February 8, 2026, peacefully in his 95th year under the wonderful care of the medical staff and nursing team in the Blackrock Clinic, Dublin. Predeceased by his wife Mary (née Shore), daughter-in-law Dawn, parents Patrick and Anastasia, brothers Paddy and John, sisters Maggie, Mary and Katie. Robbie will be sadly missed by his beloved children Patrick, John, Anna (Walsh) Bobby, Noel and Marie Therese (Barron), his 14 adored grandchildren, daughters-in-law Catriona and Deirdre, sons-in-law Tom and Kieran, sister-in-law Katie, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, good neighbours and amazing carers.

Robbie will be reposing at his home (X91 P202) on Tuesday, February 10, from 2pm concluding with prayers at 8pm, Robbie’s removal will take place on Wednesday, February 11, to St. James's Church, Glenmore, arriving for Requiem Mass at 12noon after which Robbie will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Eddie Egan

The death has occurred of Eddie Egan, King Island, Tasmania, Australia and formerly of Ballykeeffe, Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny. Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness bravely borne, in Australia on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Pre-deceased by his parents Tom and Mary. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sorrowing family, his brothers Danny, Michael, and Tommy, his sisters Agnes, Joan, Marie and Kathleen, sisters-in-law Jo, Pauline and Priscilla, brothers-in-law Connie, Ray and Anthony, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends in Australia and Ireland.

In accordance with Eddie’s wishes, his body will be donated to medical science in Australia. A memorial mass for Eddie will be held in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Kilmanagh in the coming weeks.

Kathleen Harrington (née Purcell)

The death has occurred of Kathleen Harrington (née Purcell), Rathbrit, Fethard, Co Tipperary and formerly of Ballyhenebry, Piltown, Co Kilkenny on February 7, 2026, peacefully in the tender care of the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oak Ward, Waterford University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen, beloved daughter of the late James and Eileen Purcell and sister of the late Seamus. Sadly missed by her loving husband Jerry; her brothers Eamon, Tom, Joe and Francis and sisters Margaret and Mary (Cooper); brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her residence (E91XR88) this Monday from 3pm to 8pm. Closing prayers at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday in St Thomas the Apostle Church, Rosegreen at 11.00am followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery, Fethard. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to The Oak Ward, South East Palliative Care, University Hospital, Waterford. 

Peggy (Margaret) Kirwan (née Daly)

The death has occurred of Peggy (Margaret) Kirwan (née Daly), Gragara, Jenkinstown, Co. Kilkenny, and formerly of Massford, Castlecomer and resident of Tinnypark Nursing Home, Kilkenny. Peggy passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, on February 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her son Edward, sister Chris and grandson John Edward. Sadly missed by her beloved husband John, daughters, Josephine, Teresa, Patricia, Anne-Marie and Mairead, daughter-in-law Anne-Marie, sisters Mary, Kitty and Gretta, sons-in-law/partners Joe, Pat, Maurice, Michael and Ronan, her 17 adored grandchildren, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Coady's Funeral Home, Castlecomer (R95 AK38) on Monday, February 9, from 4pm, with Vigil Prayers and Rosary at 6pm, followed by removal to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Jenkinstown (R95 NN67). Requiem Mass on Tuesday morning at 11am followed by burial in St. Colman's cemetery, Conahy.

Paul O'Connor

The death has occurred of Paul O'Connor, Kiltown, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny. Paul passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, on February 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his father Matthew. Cherished husband of Carol, and much loved father of Nikita, Kelsy, Kayla, and Sadobh. Paul will be dearly missed by his mother Annette, sisters Colette and Pamela, brother Jimmy, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Marie Lanigan (née Foley)

The death has occurred of Marie Lanigan (née Foley), Raheendenore, Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny. Marie passed away peacefully in the Oak Ward, University Hospital Waterford on February 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Pre deceased by her parents Michael and Bridget Foley, her brother John and her granddaughter Emma. Very sadly missed by her loving husband Dick, her daughter Myna (Ryan), her sons Martin and Aidan, son in law Jimmy Ryan, daughters in law Anne and Anitha, grandchildren, Pauric, Shane and Jim Ryan, Marie, Katie, Richie, Ruth, Laura and Ned Lanigan, her brothers Danny, Richard, Joseph and Pat Foley , her brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing in Walsh's Funeral Home, Graignamanagh, (Eircode R95D853) from 3pm on Sunday, February 8, concluding with prayers at 6.45pm followed by removal to Raheendenore. Removal from her home on Monday at 10.30am to arrive at Duiske Abbey, Graignamanagh for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial following funeral Mass in Cappagh cemetery, Inistioge. John Joe Leahy

The death has occurred of John Joe Leahy, 11 Noreview, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny and formerly of Maryville, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, peacefully at St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny, on February 3, 2026. Sadly missed by his partner Maggie Parker, his son and daughter in law Sean and Stephanie, his daughter Kerry and family, grandchildren Kirsty, Sean and Jake, Brothers and Sister, extended family in Castlecomer, neighbours and his beloved dog Rosie.

Arriving to the Church of the Assumption Thomastown for requiem mass on Tuesday,  February 10, at 11am followed by burial in St Mary’s New Cemetery, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. Joe's funeral mass can be viewed online at: https://thomastownparish.ie/webcam/

Carmel Phelan (née Holden)

The death has occurred of Carmel Phelan (née Holden) Ballygowan, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny. Carmel passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, February 4. Predeceased by her mother Annie, father John, niece Aoife and brother Tom Holden. Much loved and cherished wife of Jimmy. Carmel will be sadly missed by her sister Margo, her nieces and nephews, Ailish, Lorraine, Niall, Aaron, Chloe, Sophie, her grand-nieces Kayla, Caitlin and Aoibhinn and grand-nephews Shay, Ryan and Sean. Her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, extended family, a wide circle of friends and wonderful neighbours.

Carmel's Funeral Mass will take place at Church of the Assumption Templeorum, Co Kilkenny on Monday, February 9, at 11am. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only. House strictly private at all times please.

Teresa Reid

The death has occurred of Teresa Reid, Main Street, Ballyhale, Co Kilkenny. Peacefully, on Friday, February 6, 2026, in the care of the wonderful staff at Waterford University Hospital. Pre-deceased by her parents Mary and Thomas, her brothers Tommy, Joe and Seamus, her sisters Mai, Bridie, Philomena and Bridget. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving family, her sister Sr. Nellie, nieces, nephews, her dear friends Joan, Ann Marie, Pat, Sarah, Rachel, and Fr. Seán, her neighbour Emily and a wide circle of friends.

Requiem Mass on Monday, February 9, at 11am, at St. Martin of Tours Church, Ballyhale. Burial will take place afterwards in Ballyhale New Cemetery.

Tony Eivers

The death has occurred of Tony Eivers, Millennium Court, Hebron Road, Kilkenny, and formerly of Hackney, London. Tony passed away on February 4, 2026, peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff of ICU 2 at St. Luke's Hospital. Predeceased by his mother Cecelia. Beloved husband of Catherine (nee Wallace) and much loved father of Victoria, Lucy and Chelsea. Tony will be dearly missed by his loving family, mother-in-law Kathleen, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, extended family, neighbours, friends and all who knew him.

Cremation Service will take place on Monday at 12 noon in the Garden Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Dublin (D6W HY98) and will be live streamed here CREMATION SERVICE House private and no flowers please.

Martin Ryan

The death has occurred of Martin Ryan, Marble Crest, Gallows Hill, and High Street, Kilkenny. Martin passed away on February 2, 2026, peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital in the presence of his family. Beloved husband of Helen and much loved father of Kerstin and Keith. Martin will be dearly missed by his darling wife and family, daughter-in-law Linda, Kerstin's partner Alan, his dear grandchildren Abigail, Jack and Daniel, extended family and friends. Martin's family would like to thank in a special way the staff of the ICU in St. Luke's who cared for him with the utmost respect and kindness and also to the doctors and staff of Doctor Clinic in Barrack Street and Ayrfield Medical Centre.

In keeping with Martin's wishes a private cremation service has taken place.
