The death has occurred of John G. Lanigan, solicitor, Glendine Road, Kilkenny, and late of John Lanigan & Nolan Solicitors. John passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026. Beloved husband of Rosalind and much loved father of Hilary, Sonya and Caroline. John will be dearly missed by his loving wife and daughters, sister Helen Lanigan Wood, brothers Stephen and Frank, sons-in-law Francois, Paddy and Bobby, grandchildren Ronan, Kieran, Liam, Joe, Lucy and Sam, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family, colleagues and his many friends.
Reposing in Johnston's Funeral Home, John's Green, Kilkenny (R95XE00) on Tuesday, February 17, from 5pm to 7pm with Prayers recited at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 12 noon in St. John's Church, Kilkenny (R95XH7K). Funeral afterwards to Foulkstown Cemetery. House private please. The death has occurred of Mary Waugh (née Daly), Station Road, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny peacefully at St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny surrounded by her loving family, on February 14, 2026. Predeceased by her daughter Ann, brothers and sisters and her parents Paddy and Tessie. Sadly missed by her husband Christy, sons Johnny, Allen, David and Ian, daughters Christine and Carmel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, rbothers Paddy, Mick, Brendan and Frank, nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
In accordance with her wishes, Mary has donated her body to Medical Science at Trinty College, Dublin. A final act of generosity that will contribute to the education of future dand the advancement of medical knowledge. There will be no funeral at this time. A funeral mass and burial will take place at a later date, when Mary is returned to her family. Mary’s family would like to invite friends and neighbors to join them at O'Hara's on Saturday, February 21, from 5pm.
The death has occurred of Richard (Dick) Cogan, Glendine Court, Kilkenny and late of Newmarket, Co. Cork, February 15, 2026 (peacefully) in St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Recently predeceased by his loving wife Brid. Dearest father of Lisa, Barry and Richard. Dick will be sadly missed by his daughter, sons, son-in-law Brendan, daughters-in-law Lisa and Julie, brother Oliver, sister-in-law Chrissy, his cherished grandchildren Robyn, Rowena and Lucy, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Maureen Walsh (née Mullarkey), The Glen, Moneenroe, Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny, and formerly of Dromore West, Co. Sligo, on February 15, 2026. Maureen passed away at her home, surrounded by her family Sadly missed by her husband Michael, sons Jason and Michael, grandchildren Samantha and Breffni, great-grandchildren Sebastian and Esmie, sisters and brothers, extended family, relatives and friends.

The death has occurred of Larry (Laurence) Butler, Foxrock, Dublin 18 / Graignamanagh, Kilkenny. Former Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Councillor and Senator (Seanad Éireann). Larry passed away on February 13, 2026, under the incredible care of the dedicated staff and doctors of the Beacon Hospital, Dublin after a bravely fought illness. Larry, a loving husband to his wife of 63 years, Kathleen, beloved father of children Laurence, Helen, Tom and Mary-Kate. Sadly missed by his adored wife, children and grandchildren Katie, James, Elysia, Tom, Amy, Alison, Pearl, Reuben and Esmé and great grandchild Lilly, sons-in-law Ronan and Barry and daughters-in-law Mary and Sharon, his brother Walter, sister Anne, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law and his extended friends and family. Remembering also Larry's late brother and sisters, John, Kitty and Bridget and his mother Ellen and father Walter and his nephew John Butler Jr.

The death has occurred of James Costello, late of Ballybeg Park, Waterford City, formerly of Piltown, Co. Kilkenny and late of Halls, Waterford, who died February 13, 2026.Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Christine, his parents, his sister Kitty and brother John. Much loved father of daughter Kate, sons Trevor, Stephen, Robert and John, he will be sadly missed by sister Eileen, brothers Peter and Dan, his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

The death has occurred of Peggy O'Brien, 85 Pairc Mhuire, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow, and formerly of Graignamanagh, Co. Kilkenny. Peggy died on February 13, 2026 peacefully at her loving home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Paddy, her parents Paddy and Eileen Dunne, her sisters Annie, Eileen and Stella, brother John, and sister-in-law Mai. Removal on Monday morning arriving at St. Andrew's Church Bagenalstown for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the Cemetery of the Assumption Bagenalstown.
The death has occurred of Willie O'Keeffe, Smithstown, Thomastown, Kilkenny. Willie, in his 91st year, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026, surrounded by his family, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by his wife Alice (née O’Neill), brother Paddy and sister Breda (Delaney). Willie will be sadly missed by his loving family - daughters: Breda (O’Shea) and Margaret (Power), sons: Michael, Tom and Billy, sons-in-law: Tom and John, daughters-in-law: Mairead, Deirdre and Sharon, his grandchildren: Liam, Niamh, Ailís, Seán, James, Billy, Caoimhe, David, Sinéad, Orla, Dearbhail, Róisín, Éanna, Ciara, Marie and Billy, his brother John, sister-in-law Berry, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours.
Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, February 16, at 11am in the Church of the Assumption, Thomastown (R95 YP97), followed by interment in St. Mary’s New Cemetery, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny.
