RIP: Deep sadness in Kilkenny following the passing of kind man

Residents of Skeoughvosteen, Kilkenny City, and surrounding areas have been deeply saddened by the death of well-known local man Dick Barcoe.

Mr Barcoe of Altamount Park in the city, but originally from Skeoughvosteen has been remembered as a 'true gentleman' with tributes flooding in online from his many friends, neighbours and former work colleagues.

Despite living in the city for many years, the local man never lost touch with his roots with his native Blacks & Whites GAA club recalling his 'warm personality and kindness'.

"Black & Whites GAA Club are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dick Barcoe," the club said in a statement.

"Dick was a great follower of the Black & Whites teams throughout the years and a great friend to many. His presence, warm personality and kindness will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who mourn his loss," they added.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS: Reposing in Johnston’s Funeral Home from 5-7pm on Thursday, March 19, pausing for Funeral Prayers at 6.30pm.

Requiem Mass at 10.30am on Friday, March 20 in St John’s Church followed by interment in Skeoughvosteen Cemetery.
