Kilkenny County Council’s Climate Action Office have developed a new guide to support local climate action whilst helping communities and households to reduce energy, waste and water use, protect nature and save on energy bills.

The guide provides information on 31 sources of funding available to communities and households for projects such as making homes warmer, creating new community facilities such as cycleways and community gardens; energy upgrades to community buildings; protecting monuments from climate change and creating rain gardens to capture excessive rainfall. For a full list of all grants and supports available please visit Climate Action Grants Leaflet - Kilkenny County Council.

“I welcome this new guide for communities and households around the county as it empowers everyone to make practical and meaningful changes to support climate action," said Kilkenny County Council Cathaoirleach Michael McCarthy.

Climate action means making changes big and small to slow down global warming and keep people and nature safe for the future. The leaflet also contains hints and tips on how everyone can include small climate action measures into everyday life.

Kilkenny County Council’s A/Community Climate Action Officer, Claire Prendergast said: “In the Climate Action Office, we recognised the need to provide one source of information on all grants and resources to help communities and the public take climate action. We collated all the information into one easy to read leaflet which is available from all local libraries or by emailing climate@kilkennycoco.ie."
