Kilkenny served as a fantastic backdrop for the penultimate episode of Channel 5 family drama-thriller 'The Inheritance', with 1.7m viewers tuning in to see the latest instalment that aired on Monday.

It has been the highest ranked show in its timeslot on public service broadcasting in the UK since its first episode, a sign that telly watchers have been hooked by its ever-unwinding plot.

In episode three, Kilkenny City and Inistioge featured prominently, with city scenes shot on John Street, Pudding Lane, Barrack Street, Patrick Street and James' Street.

The series has steadily built the tension and drama over the last three episodes, and is now poised for a thrilling crescendo.

The final episode of The Inheritance airs on Channel 5 next Monday, September 25, at 9pm.
