The Tholsel in Kilkenny
A Cork humourist, through his popular fictional alter ego 'Reggie from Blackrock Road', recently turned his attention to Kilkenny. In typical Reggie fashion, he didn’t hold back.
In a recent video posted to social media ahead of his upcoming gig at the Set Theatre on October 19, the Cork comic’s posh persona delivers a tongue-in-cheek tour of Kilkenny City.

"Hello, old stocks. I'm in Kilkenny. And I'm f***ing furious," Reggie begins, before launching into a characteristically Cork-centric comparison.
"We were always told in school in Cork that Kilkenny was just a toy city... but parts of Kilkenny are almost on a par with Cork."
The self-proclaimed sophisticate didn’t stop there. Even the city’s landmarks receive a nod, albeit through backhanded compliments.

"Just as embarrassing, this castle [Kilkenny Castle] is nicer than Blackrock Castle," he said.
As the video continues, Reggie surveys the city’s sights and shops.
"It’s not just hurling and finding new uses for phone charging cables. They like a book as well," he continued.
"They have a Left Bank and a Rive Gauche. The last time they put up a new building was 1672. Even Dunnes is medieval."

By the end, Reggie seems genuinely intrigued by the city’s affluence, or at least suspicious of it.
"So where is Kilkenny getting all its money? Is it just a giant front for the mob? Where did Kilkenny get all its money?"
