THE brooch by local jewellery designer and maker Inga Reed that is featured on an An Post stamp in honour of the Year of Craft 2011 will be on display in the city next week.
A set of five stamps was issued by An Post to celebrate the Year of Craft, and Inga is among the five craftspeople whose work was chosen to represent the best of Irish traditional and contemporary craft.
People in Kilkenny will have a chance to see the original brooch pictured on the stamp as part of an exhibition of contemporary international jewellery being shown at Murphy’s Jewellers on High Street from June 20-24. A companion piece to this brooch, also made in silver and 18-carat gold, was recently designed and made for President Mary McAleese, who is Patron of the Year of Craft. Inga’s work can be also be seen on www.ingareed.com.
