The 2025 Kilkenny Yearbook is available in shops now - a must-have addition to the festive season, where we look back on a year of remarkable events, achievements, and unforgettable moments across city and county.

A feelgood sporting story blasted away the January blues when locally-trained Nick Rockett romped home to Thyestes glory. Panto Season swung into gear with Castlecomer, Thomastown and in Kilkenny, while glitz and glamour were the order of the day at the Macra Ball.

Champion cyclist Mia Griffin lead celebrations as grand marshal of the St Patrick's Day parade. Spring brought brighter days, and the wonders of a lunar landscape and all its secrets were unveiled as touring artwork, the seven-metre Museum of the Moon, went on show at St Canice’s Cathedral. Kilkenny woman Angela Hayes was recognised for her incredible work, being named Humanitarian of the Year at the annual Irish Red Cross Humanitarian Awards.

Our camogie girls were among those to lead the charge in the skorts v shorts controversy with their protest before the Leinster final. In June, Kilkenny's hurlers clinched another Leinster championship. Summer also saw plenty of colour and fun when Kilkenny celebrated its first-ever Pride Parade in July.

As always, there were many memorable festivals throughout the year, and we look back at some great memories. St Patrick's Festival and Tradfest drew big crowds, as did the likes of the Roots on the May Bank Holiday, Kilkenny Arts Festival in August, and then Savour Kilkenny, Kilkenomics and Subtitle as the darker evenings arrived.

As 2025 draws to a close, we survey the best of the festive season, featuring a full listing of Christmas and New Year events, as well as a glimpse of what 2026 has in store.
