Tirlán will pay a total of 42.08 cent per litre (cpl) (including VAT) for May creamery milk supplies at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein.
This is an increase of 0.5 cpl on the payment for April.
The May milk price consists of: base milk price of 41.58 cpl (including VAT), an increase of 2 cpl from April; and Sustainability Action Payment of 0.5 cpl (including VAT) to all qualifying suppliers.
The actual average price paid by Tirlán for May creamery milk, based on delivered constituents, will be 45.37 cpl (including VAT).
Tirlán Chairperson John Murphy said there has been an increase in returns for some dairy products in the past month, led by butter and cheese, and driven by reduced milk supply in some regions.
