Kilkenny woman honoured for unique personal achievement

After a close-fought campaign, Josephine O’Neill of Callan Macra, Co Kilkenny, has been named Macra’s 40th National President last month, becoming the first woman to be elected to the role.

O’Neill, from Maddoxtown, Bennettsbridge, is a secondary school teacher of both Home Economics and Irish, in Presentation de la Salle College, Bagenalstown and has a background in farming. She has been an active member of not only her local club, but at national level in the Macra organisation, in recent years. - READ MORE HERE

In recognition of her achievement, Ms O'Neill received a Civic Reception in the chamber of Kilkenny County Council.
