Funding of more than €40,000 for forestry projects that include land in Co Kilkenny has been welcomed.
Minister Martin Heydon and Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Healy-Rae TD, today announced the results of the 2025/2026 Open Call for Proposals for Forestry Promotion Projects.
Among the successful projects are the ‘Mná Na Coille (Women of the Woods)’ project in Kilkenny, Athlone and Sligo, which has been awarded €17,819, and the Acorn Project’s ‘Fite Fuaite: Interwoven Landscapes’ in Kilkenny, Tipperary and Laois, which will benefit from funding of €23,263.50.

A number of national projects were also funded under a total of €1.5 million for forestry promotion, and Kilkenny will also benefit from many of these projects.
Leas Cheann Comhairle Deputy John McGuinness is delighted with the funding for “the promotion of the benefits of increased use of timber products in construction and design, in the context of climate action and the bioeconomy, sustainable forest management schemes and climate resilience building.
“Forestry is nationwide and insightful investments in these programmes is very welcome,” he said.
