A major scientific conference is set to take place in Kilkenny next week.

Veterinary Ireland’s Annual Conference and AGM is taking place in Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny, next Friday, November 21, 2025.

Scientific sessions of the conference will include updates on the TB Action Plan and Veterinary Medicines Legislation.

Martin Hayden TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food ad The Marine is scheduled to open the event, marking 25 years since the foundation of the body representing veterinary practitioners in Ireland.

The 2025 Veterinary Ireland conference includes a focus on both human and animal welfare. 

The link between animal abuse and domestic abuse will be explored in the ‘Protect Animals, Protect People’ session along with the Science of Animal Welfare in Veterinary Behavioural Medicine.

The vet’s role in supporting farmer wellbeing features in a presentation entitled ‘On Feirm Ground’ and health and welfare subjects will also focus on the Changing Narrative of Suicide Prevention.
