Tour and St Patrick’s Day Dash in Castle Park

TWO notable events are taking place in Kilkenny Castle Park this month.

As National Tree Week (Seachtain Naisiunta na gCrann) 2011 continues this week, a free guided tour of Kilkenny Castle Park will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at 11am led by Colm Mangan, head gardener. Advanced booking is essential; contact Colm Mangan on 087 6349153 or colm.mangan@opw.ie. Groups and individuals are very welcome to attend. This year’s National Tree Week theme is ‘The Year of the Forest – Celebrating Forests for People’.

Then, on March 17 the St Patrick’s Day Dash will be passing through Kilkenny Castle Park. This 5km Fun Run/ Jog/ Walk organised by Kilkenny City Harriers and Kilkenny fit4life will take place on St Patrick’s Day, starting and finishing at The Watershed and passing through Kilkenny Castle Park en route. There will be prizes for the first three women/ men/ boys/ girls. There will also be spot prizes and a prize for the best ‘fancy dress’.
