Volkswagen Ireland continued its impressive start to 2012 by claiming the No. 1 position in the Irish motor industry during April with 867 registrations, a market share of 12.9%.

So far this year Volkswagen Ireland has registered 6,513 vehicles representing a market share of 12.3%, up 0.5% (on 2011). This performance places Volkswagen Ireland immediately behind Toyota and increasingly closing the gap.

John Donegan, Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Ireland said they were delighted with the performance during April and gave credit to the dealership network and their exceptional efforts.

“With a gap of just 200 registrations between Volkswagen Ireland and top spot we will be doing our utmost to continue this strong performance in the second quarter of 2012 and maximize a strong order bank,” he said.

Volkswagen Ireland’s strong performance is against the backdrop of an overall motoring industry that year to date is 7.2 % down on 2011 with April down 22% on April 2011.
