Opel are gearing up for the arrival of the stylish Adam Rocks, which will be here in October.
The Rocks features an electrically folding swing top canvas roof. It is taller than other members of the family and has distinctive body cladding. Prices will start at €18,995.
The latest member of Opel’s urban lifestyle family is powered by an all-new 1.0 ECOTEC direct injection turbo petrol engine.
This all-aluminium three-cylinder unit delivers 115hp and comes with a new compact and lightweight 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Adam Rocks also opens up a new market niche with its cross-over features in the mini car segment. Opel designers have developed new design elements, décors and seating trims are unique to the Rocks.
Together with the Swing Top canvas roof fitted which is standard fit, this all gives the car is very own look.
“The Adam Rocks is fun,” said Dave Sheeran, managing director of Opel Ireland. “It can be individualised like no other car and blends attitude with adventure.
“The Adam Rocks is definitely a car for all young and young-at-heart drivers with its combination of open-air driving fun, state-of-the-art connectivity and a lively new engine.”
Protective, anthracite-coloured body cladding enhances the car’s tough, muscular look. Silver skid plates front and rear, and a bold chrome exhaust are fitted as standard, complete its exterior design highlights.
With its Swing Top canvas roof, Adam Rocks offers easy access to open-air driving fun. The roof folds back neatly on to the C-pillars in just five seconds. It can be opened or closed while the car is moving (at speeds up to 140 km/h).
The entire roof module is acoustically tuned for good noise insulation inside the cabin. The robust, three-layer fabric has a neoprene centre sandwich for weatherproofing and durability.
Best connected small car
Adam Rocks also features Opel‘s award-winning IntelliLink infotainment system with all its multi-media connectivity options and apps. It allows the seamless integration of Android as well as Apple iOS smartphone functionalities inside the car.
When Adam Rocks is stationary, photo galleries or videos can be viewed on the 7-inch high-definition colour touch-screen. IntelliLink is not only safe and easy to operate, it is also extremely affordable, making Rocks the best connected small car on the market. The Rocks showcases something exciting under the hood. In addition to familiar naturally-aspirated 5-speed manual, 1.4-litre petrol (100hp), the new 1.0 ECOTEC direct injection turbo petrol engine makes its debut in Ireland.
The maximum speed is 196 km and zero to 100km/h takes just 11.9 and 9.9 seconds respectively. This new engine delivers strong, low-end torque of 170 Nm from just 1,800 rpm.
Despite the performance, Rocks consumes just 5.1 litres (115hp) of fuel per 100 km over the combined cycle.
