A local property in a state of poor repair went under the hammer recently and fetched €140,000 above its modest guide price!
The property, 60 Maudlin Street in Kilkenny City, was in 'a completely derelict state', auctioneers REA Boyd's stated.
"The reserve on this property was set at a modest €200,000, raising a lot of interest," they added.
"There were five bidders on the day, all clearly seeing the investment potential. Following a staggering 144 bids on the day, the virtual hammer dropped at a whopping €340,000."
The auctioneers congratulated the new owners and wish them every success in the future.
