FLASHBACK: The last time Garthmania hit Kilkenny - tickets sold for gig that never was!

With confirmation that Garth Brooks is returning to Ireland next year - including a mega gig at UPMC Nowlan Park in Kilkenny - we’re taking a lookback at the last time Garthmania hit Kilkenny!

While there was no Kilkenny event booked for his Irish tour in 2014, it didn’t stop hundreds of people queuing outside the legendary Rollercoaster Records on Kieran Street to snap up tickets to one of his planned concerts in Croke Park. Some were camped out, queuing from 8pm the night before.

In the end, it turned out to be the gig that never was. Dublin City Council only granted permission for only three of the gigs to go ahead at Croke Park stadium, and following a bitter and protracted dispute, all five scheduled to take place in July were called off.

This time, Garth is bringing the music to five different venues around the country for a special Irish tour. Garth will play Belfast – Galway – Kilkenny – Limerick – Cork in 2027. Garth’s last performances in Ireland were his epic sold out five nights at Croke Park in September 2022.

Garth Brooks is synonymous with ground breaking, history making, and barrier shattering. Throughout his career he has constantly challenged preconceptions and limitations while bringing his music to a worldwide audience.

He is the biggest selling artist in US history as the first and only artist to pass 200M albums sold. Garth Brooks is also the first and only artist to receive ten RIAA Diamond Awards for ten albums certified at over 10 million. According to the RIAA, Double Live is the biggest selling live album and the top-selling country album in the U.S. Double Live, No Fences, Ropin’ the Wind, and Triple Live are four of the top five best-selling country albums of all time.

“This has been a dream of mine since the first time we played Ireland. Once you get a taste of how the Irish love music, you can't play there enough!” Garth Brooks.

Tickets for these dates in Belfast, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick and Cork go on sale on Thursday, November 12 at 8am from Ticketmaster.ie.
