Dreams of a Thomastown run in the AIB Leinster Senior Hurling Championship ended in abrupt fashion on Sunday afternoon, as Westmeath champions Castletown Geoghegan beat the Kilkenny outfit by 11 points in TEG Cusack Park.
Thomastown, who were crowned St Canice's Credit Union SHC champions for the first time since 1949 last month were forced to play almost the entire second half with 14 players following a sending off to midfield Jonjo Farrell.

Noel Doherty's men edged proceedings at half-time 1-10 to 0-12 with a Luke Connellan goal seperating the teams.
However, the loss of Farrell was to the Kilkenny senior champions downfall , who were outscored 1-13 to 0-4 in the second period with county final man of the match John Donnelly limited to a single point.
