Further speculation over Fionan Mackessy's Kilkenny future emerges

Kerry native and O'Loughlin Gaels senior hurler, Fionan Mackessy has reportedly commenced full training with Kilkenny according to the Irish Independent.

As has been widely reported in recent months, discussions have taken place between the Long Poc Champion and Cats manager Derek Lyng with the Ardfert man edging nearer and nearer to his Kilkenny debut following weeks of winter training.

Mackessy has been selected as a Joe McDonagh Cup All-Star over the past five seasons in a row and has become a regular started for his adopted club.

Conor Fogarty, Walter Walsh and Cillian Buckley all called time on their inter-county careers this season with Conor Heary, David Fogarty and Timmy Clifford amongst the players understood to have made way.
