Derek Lyng has named his first competitive starting 15 of 2025 ahead of Kilkenny's trip to Cusack Park to face Clare in the first round of the Allianz Hurling League on Sunday at 2pm.
Among those to start will be Kerry native, Fionan Mackessy who has been selected to play at wing-back in his first competitive start for the Cats. Mackessy did play some part in the county's challenge match wins over Waterford and Offaly.
Kilkenny are one of seven counties that will compete in Division 1A this spring alongside Clare, Wexford, Galway, Cork, Limerick and Tipperary. The top two teams in the division will face off in the league final and the bottom two will be automatically relegated.
