Surprise name expected to enter Kilkenny hurling backroom team

The Irish Independent are reporting that Kilkenny have appointed Dublin native and well-known sports performance and data analyst, Ray Boyne.

The news follows the completion of Noel Doherty's six-month sideline ban earlier this week, who is now poised to be announced as a selector for the senior panel with his position to be ratified at next Monday’s County Board meeting.

Boyne spent over a decade involved with Dublin GAA as part of their analysis team for the senior footballers as well as assisting Pat Gilroy with the senior hurlers in 2018.

Local supporters will be hoping the developments will offer renewed energy for the squad ahead of the county's Leinster Championship campaign, which begins at home to Galway in UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday, April 19.
