Hugely successful Kilkenny player reveals reasons for inter-county retirement

Three-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, Grace Walsh has told the Kilkenny People Sport Podcast that she never intended an Instagram post with a 'reflection' of the team's 2024 season to be considered a retirement post despite telling her team-mates privately. - LISTEN TO THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE FROM (9:40)

"It probably wasn't really meant to be an announcement that I was stepping away but it just kind of happened that my reflection on the year, everyone took it that I was retiring, which I was and I had told the players but I kind of wanted to keep it at that at the time," Walsh told the Kilkenny People Sport Podcast. 

"I think without the friendships and all that goes with it, like anything in life, if you want to reach a certain goal you have to work hard to get there and you have to figure out the development areas you need to improve on as well as you're strong points," she continued.

"You need to get better at both to flourish and be at the top of your game. I was definitely never the most skillful player but I really was passionate about the game as were the players around me, wanting to do it as a team and that probably paid off," Walsh added.
