Brian Cody will be in attendance to open the pitches
Barrow Rangers GAA club will host a celebration to officially open its new pitches on Sunday, June 29 at 1:30pm.
The development of a full-sized pitch and a training pitch along with a new car park and access road will be marked with kids matches, bouncy castles and a barbecue.
The project began in 2018 and seven years later the club’s ambitions have finally been realised without accruing any debt.
“We raised about €600,000 all with no debt, all through fundraising and a very generous sports capital grant back in 2021,” said Martin Maher, Chairman of the development committee.
“We have lots more to do but we’re going to officially open the two pitches on Sunday and hold a fun day for kids and all the people who supported us,” he added.

Former Kilkenny hurling manager Brian Cody launched the project back in 2018 and will return to Barrow Rangers on Sunday to cut the ribbon and say a few words to mark the occasion.
The club will continue its upgrades in the coming year with another sports capital grant of €146,000 going towards an all-weather pitch and ball-wall.
