The Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Intermediate and JJ Kavanagh Junior Hurling Leagues returned for match week two last weekend with games across the county.
In Group A of the intermediate grade, James Stephens (The Village) marched on to a second win of the campaign, putting in a strong second half showing to brush off a resilient Tullogher Rosbercon 1-20 to 0-15 and move to second spot in Group A behind Dunnamaggin.
In the same group, a strong second half when favoured by the breeze saw Dunnamaggin secure a comfortable victory over St Martin’s. The Muckalee men were more than a match for the winners in the opening half but fell away by the finish 1-24 to 2-12.

Meanwhile, a goal in each half from Killian Hogan and Robbie Doherty gave Mooncoin the edge as they claimed a 12-point victory over Blacks and Whites 2-23 to 0-17.
In Group B, St Lachtains recovered from a very slow start to claim their opening victory on their return to the intermediate grade at the expense of Young Irelands on a 2-18 to 3-13 scoreline. Gowran looked to be in full control when Diarmuid Langton on the double and Ted Drea both scored goals inside the opening quarter but that still wasn’t enough to claim victory in Muckalee with St Lachtain’s battling back in style. Goals in response from Liam Hickey and Cian Dawson helped turn the tide in their favour.
Elsewhere, two first half goals from the sharp Brian McDonald proved the ultimate launchpad for Danesfort in their victory over a battling Fenians side 2-17 to 1-17. The fact that Danesfort struck 2-10 from play over the course of the hour while their opponents managed just 0-4 from play in the same period of time was also a major difference between the teams.
The group began on Friday night as the Rower Inistioge won a thrilling contest against Carrickshock. Adam Franks (Carrickshock) and Eoghan Lyng (Rower Inistioge) were the key figures for their teams with Lyng getting his side over the line in the finish 1-17 to 1-15.
