WATCH: TJ Reid shows class again with outstanding piece of skill - Kilkenny SHL

Shamrocks Ballyhale secured their second win in Group A of the St Canice's Credit Union SHL on Saturday evening, beating Lisdowney in Tom Ryall Park.

Despite the concession of a big scoreline, the win never appeared to be in doubt for Henry Shefflin's team. But, it was another piece of skill by the great TJ Reid that has gotten local hurling supporters talking this week.

Match Report - Shamrocks made up for a late defeat to Glenmore last weekend when they claimed a big victory over Lisdowney in Tom Ryall Park last Saturday evening.

Brian Cody bagged two goals apiece and with Niall Shortall and Eoin Cody also finding the net, Henry Shefflin’s team had all the aces in the end.

David O’Carroll kept Lisdowney honest with two goals himself but for the third week in a row, the North Kilkenny outfit were well beaten on the scoreboard.

Shamrocks wasted no time in hitting their straps and within four minutes, they had already registered 1-2 with Brian Cody’s opening goal followed by points from TJ Reid and Eoin Kenneally.

Eoin Kenny replied with Lisdowney’s opening effort but Shamrocks soon powered clear again with further scores via Niall Shortall, Darragh Corcoran and Ronan Corcoran.

Brian Kavanagh then came into his own with a hat-trick of efforts from play for last year’s intermediate champions but any time they looked like getting close, the Shamrocks notched on a couple more scores.

By the halfway mark of the opening period, the scoreline read 1-9 to 0-4 as the Ballyhale side took their scores with a degree of ease as Eoin Cody and Stephen Barron contributed further to their tally.

Lisdowney kept at it with points from Charlie Brennan and Eoin Delaney before they got a rather fortunate goal when a David O’Carroll point attempt dropped short, deceiving Dean Mason before dropping into the net.

Shamrocks still held huge superiority at the break with points from Cody, TJ Reid and Niall Shortall ensuring they led 1-14 to 1-8.

While Willie Kenny got a point back not long after the resumption, the Shamrocks goal threat soon went up a few levels with Eoin Cody converting a fine individual effort in the 33rd minute.

It wasn’t long till Brian Cody got a third major for his side and by that point, the Shamrocks had started to empty the bench with bigger challenges lying in wait over the next few weeks.

O’Carroll was Lisdowney’s star turn on the night as he scored 2-2 in total from his role in defence but in a real summary of the contest, his 55th minute strike was immediately cancelled out by Niall Shortall in the next attack as the Shamrocks eased to a huge 4-25 to 3-14 success by the full-time whistle.

Shamrocks: Brian Cody (2-1); Eoin Cody (1-4); TJ Reid (0-7, 3fs); Niall Shortall (1-3); Liam Barron (0-3); Ronan Corcoran (0-2); Stephen Barron, Eoin Kenneally, Darragh Corcoran, Killian Corcoran, Paddy Mullen (0-1 each).

Lisdowney: David O’Carroll (2-2); Brian Kavanagh (0-6, 3fs); Cathal Jordan (1-0); Charlie Brennan (0-2); Eoin Kenny, Willie Kenny, Richard McEvoy, Eoin Delaney (0-1 each).
