The Shamrocks got the fright of their lives as they battled to a two point victory over Dicksboro in a pulsating Kilkenny SHC Semi-Final in UPMC Nowlan Park last Sunday earning them a date of O'Loughlin Gaels in the final.
A first half red card to Paddy Mullen meant Shamrocks played for over half an hour with a player less but that was only the beginning of the drama with Dean Mason forced to make a last gasp double save from Cillian Hackett and Cillian Buckley late on to aid his side to a 0-21 to 2-16 win. Next week's decider will be a first senior county final since 2023 for the South Kilkenny outfit where they narrowly lost out to Brian Hogan's team.
However, despite being over the moon with his team's progress, Shamrocks manager Henry Shefflin has admitted it wasn't his aim at the start of the season.
"My aim wasn't this (a senior county final) at the start of the year, my aim was to get the lads back winning a few matches," Shefflin said after their semi-final win.

"When I went in last year, I think we won two out of 12 matches, that's a 16% win ratio and it was about trying to get back and to win a few matches.
"I'm just delighted that bit of confidence of winning a few games stood to them," he continued.
