Having made most use of the gale in the first half Galmoy laid the foundation for victory (2-24 to 0-7) over Tullaroan in the All County League at Galmoy on Sunday.
A feature of that half were three pointed lineballs by Phil Russell, who finished with a tally of 2-10.That first goal came in the third minute when Russell tapped home a rebound after Noel Doherty’s batted effort came back off the crossbar.
In the 14th minute the in running Nigel Stanley was fouled and from the twenty metre free, Phil Russell struck to the roof of the net.Galmoy then picked off some impressive points.
Tullaroan tried hard and Brendan Cahill pointed for them in the 7th minute.Richie Butler and Josh Moore cleared a lot of ball but against the elements ,it was always a difficult struggle. Galmoy led by 2-16 to 0-1 at the break.
Tullaroan improved somewhat after the break when backed by the wind .The introduction of young Shane Walsh gave an impetus to their attack and he picked off an immediate point before setting Brendan Cahill up for another.Micheál Brennan also pointed from the wing but Galmoy were always able to post a reply.
