Shefflin red card rescinded

One of the yellow cards shown to Henry Shefflin during the All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-final against Cork has been rescinded.

One of the yellow cards shown to Henry Shefflin during the All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-final against Cork has been rescinded.

This meant that the red shown to the Ballyhale Shamrocks man after being booked for the second time in the 34th minute was recinded.

The ruling clears Shefflins record of never having been sent off in 65 appearances. The first yellow card shown by referee, Barry Kelly (Westmeath) was wiped.

There was a widespread feeling that the nine times All-Ireland senior medal winner had been harshly treated.
