A LATE, late point from a free by Richie Power earned Carrickshock a dramatic draw with flying Fenians (Johnstown) in the senior hurling league at Nowlan Park on Saturday.
The Southerners looked the better team during the opening half, but Fenians goals from Kevin Power (19th minute) and Danny Dermody (21st minute) kept them in the game. At half-time Carrickshock led by 0-13 to 2-6.
Fenians looked in trouble when they conceded a goal to Brian Donovan in the 39th minute which saw them fall 1-16 to 2-9 behind. However, they drove back and a goal from Conor Tobin inspired them. They would have stolen a win but for Power’s late intervention.
Scorers: Fenians – Kevin Power (1-6, six points frees); Conor Tobin (1-3, points frees); Danny Dermody (1-0); Kieran Grehan (0-3); John Broderick, Willie Brennan (0-1 each).
