Blacks were ’White hot’

Blacks and Whites 2-13

Blacks and Whites 2-13

Grignamanagh 0-10

Blacks and Whites were too good for neighbours, Graignamanagh in the first round junior hurling championship game in Benettsbridge on Saturday.

The winners simply had the better hurlers. Michael (Crow) Maloney was unbeatable at centre-back. Michael (Mo) Maloney was equally impressive, while up front, Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere and the excellent Niall Kennedy were never mastered.

After six minutes Jamie Byrne set the tone when he belted a goal for Skeaugh. Points were added regularly by Kennedy and Paul Murphy. Eddie Walsh did his best for Graig, as was Bernard Hennessy. At half time ’Whites led by 1-7 to 0-5.

Both sides doubled their first-half take, but such a statistic only serves to underline the superiority of the winners.

They will want to head to Nowlan Park for another crack at the junior title. It is not beyond the bounds of probabilities you know.
