Kilkenny surived an Offaly goal rush, 0-26 to 4-9 at O’Connor Park Tullamore to book their place in the Leinster semi-final against either Dublin or Wexford - who drew their quarter final on Saturday.
Offaly found the net after just 51 seconds in to this game and led 2-6 to 0-11 at the break, with the free taking of Eoin Larkin keeping Kilkenny in touch.
In the second half though Kilkenny found their feet, and carved out strong leads with the Kilkenny attack finally breaking free from the Faithful rearguard as defenders Tommy Walsh and Brian Hogan also registering points.
Yet there was a dramatic conclusion to the game as Offaly hit two goals - this time in the final seven minutes but Kilkenny’s composure in the second half was never in doubt as they advance in the Leinster championship.
In other championship action, Limerick shocked Tipperary with a three point win in the Munster SHC semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
