A Kilkenny councillor, who recent served as President of the Association of Irish Local Government, is calling for an end to the uncertainty around the General Election date.
Cllr Pat Fitzpatrick (FF) has urged the Government to set a firm date for the General Election, expressing concern over the ongoing uncertainty.
"It is crucial that the country is not put on hold while we wait for the Government to make up its mind," he said.
"I believe it is vital that we hold the election as soon as possible."

Cllr Fitzpatrick highlighted what he perceives as the negative impacts of the delay on critical issues such as housing, healthcare, challenges, farming, environmental concerns and economic development.
"As long as this uncertainty continues, we are losing momentum on addressing the key challenges facing our communities," he added.
"We need stability and focus to tackle these urgent matters."
Cllr Fitzpatrick told Kilkenny Live that he believes that setting a date and finalising the budget are necessary steps to move forward.
"The longer this goes on, the more we risk losing opportunities for meaningful progress. It's time to let the people decide," Cllr Fitzpatrick concluded.
