The counting of votes in the Carlow/ Kilkenny constituency will take place at a first-time venue in the city, this year.

It has been revealed by the Returning Officer, Deirdre Burke, that the votes cast in Carlow/ Kilkenny on November 29 will be counted at the Loreto Secondary School Sports Hall, on Granges Road in Kilkenny City.

The more familiar venues of the Lyrath Hotel Conference Centre and, on other occasions, the centre at Cillin Hill, were unavailable when the election was called.

The ballot boxes are expected to be opened at 9am on Saturday, November 30. Once the boxes have been reconciled the ballots will be counted. This counting of votes is is expected to go late into the evening, and possibly continue into the next day.

Once boxes are opened it is expected the traditional tally will get underway, to give an indication of how the vote has gone. Kilkenny Live will be reporting all the news from the count centre.
