Fianna Fáil will undoubtedly look back at their General Election 2024 campaign in Carlow-Kilkenny as a huge success.
Not only did the party retain their two sitting TDs of John McGuinness and Jennifer Murnane O'Connor, but they also added a third seat following the election of Peter 'Chap' Cleere.
"Everybody is trying to go out and win their own seat," he said.
"We're very fortunate in Carlow and Kilkenny that we have strong candidates. It's a huge achievement."
Kilkenny's new Fianna Fáil TD admitted that there were some nerves after the RTÉ exit poll on polling day showed Fianna Fáil trailing behind Sinn Féin and Fine Gael, but expressed his delight at the support shown to him by local voters.
Meanwhile, his party colleague, John McGuinness stated that the return of North West Kilkenny to the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency will be a 'main item on the agenda' when he returns to government.
