Evan Barry (Sinn Féin)
A Kilkenny candidate in the Tipperary North - North West Kilkenny constituency says that he ‘will not give up in fighting for our families, workers and communities in Kilkenny’ despite not securing a seat.
The only Kilkenny-based candidate running in the constituency, Sinn Féin’s Evan Barry was excluded from the race after the sixth count, with 1,515 votes.
He stated that he was running ‘to ensure that the people of Kilkenny have a champion within this newly defined constituency’.

“A big thank you to my campaign manager Dermot and all the Sinn Féin activists who helped me along the way,” he added.
Barry ran for election alongside party colleague Dan Harty, who was excluded after the seventh count.
Ultimately, the three seats on offer went to Michael Lowry (Independent), Alan Kelly (Labour) and Ryan O'Meara (Fianna Fáil).
