Little Blue Heroes set to benefit from Kilkenny's Bluelight Ball

Kilkenny's Little Blue Heroes were out in force earlier this week to launch the Blue Light Ball which will take place at Hotel Kilkenny on Saturday.

The ball is organised by members of the emergency services to combine together and raise funds for local charitable groups.

Over the years various groups were beneficiaries of this event such as Saplings in Goresbridge, SERT- South Eastern Radiotherapy Trust, Scoliosis Network Advocacy, Cois Nore, Kilkenny Branch of Arthritis Ireland and many more local worthy causes. The Blue Light Ball was last held in 2020 and was temporarily postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s Blue Light Ball benefactor’s are The Little Blue Heroes,  a non-profit charity operated by volunteers made up of garda members/staff, retired garda members, their families, friends. The aim of the foundation is to help families in need from local communities who have children under-going long term medical treatment for serious illness. The name ‘Little Blue Heroes’ came about when it was discovered that a large amount of the children we support have a strong fascination with police uniforms, equipment, vehicles and garda units. This has led to some of the kids becoming honorary gardai and become part of the garda family.

This year's ball is taking place in Hotel Kilkenny this Saturday (February 25) at 6.30pm.

A drinks reception on arrival followed by dinner and music into the night.

The music on the night is provided by The Electrix.

The Blue Light Ball Committee would like to thank all those who donated spot prizes for the night and their continued support. There are limited tickets still available at €50 and members of the committee can be contacted through Facebook or Instagram ‘Blue Light Ball or  on (087) 9824691, (087) 2922417, (086) 3672455, (085) 1323348.
