The Kilkenny County Council Decade of Commemorations Committee is seeking expressions of interest from close relatives of those directly impacted by the Civil War from County Kilkenny to attend a national memorial event.

All local authorities have been asked to nominate a limited number of relatives to attend a formal ceremony for a healing moment of reconciliation, remembering everyone who lost their lives in the Civil War.

The outdoor event, being hosted by the Department of the Taoiseach, will take place in the Garden of Remembrance in Dublin on Sunday, May 28.

Those interested are advised to email heritage@Kilkennycoco.ie (or phone 056-7794923) indicating your interest and outlining your connection to an individual(s) directly impacted by the Civil War from County Kilkenny.

The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest is Wednesday, May 3 at 4pm. The memorial event will be televised.

The Decade of Commemorations Programme for County Kilkenny is managed by Kilkenny County Council’s Decade of Commemorations Committee with the support of the Commemorations Unit of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries 2012-23 initiative.
