Actor David Scott will be holding the workshops
Renowned Australian actor, David Scott who has captured the attention of audiences on television and on film, as well as having a solid reputation as a live performer on stage will be delivering acting workshops in Kilkenny in May.
When he is not in front of the camera on the set of ‘Fair City’ or ‘The Tudors’, then he is assisting up-and-coming actors with their technique. Scott also appeared as Beric Dondarrion in ‘Game of Thrones’
The series of workshops will take place on May 7 in the Pembroke Hotel and on May 14 and 28, which be held in the Barn, in Barnstorm Theatre on John’s Quay. Each will run from 10am to 4pm.
Each workshop will build upon the former and are meant to be taken as a series.
They are aimed at both beginners and intermediate level actors, so if you have little to no experience, this is a perfect place to start your thespian endeavours.
Over the three Sundays actors will be guided through acting from foundation level technique and style through to advanced characterisation and concepts. David will provide some background on how acting has developed and specifically the Stanislavski Technique.
Fundamentals on how to approach a script and characterisation will be taught, honing and refining ones’ performance. This will all be applied to a selection of short scripts provided.
Former KATS member, Elaine O'Hara, a familiar face on Ros na Rún and recognised from the multiple award nominated and winning, The Quiet Girl, has to say about working with David Scott.
“I completed David's The Applied Art of Acting course in 2018 - an immersive three-month full-time course which I thoroughly enjoyed! David himself is extremely knowledgeable on all things ‘acting’, and provided an excellent course combining vocal and physical work with a thorough understanding of a number of different acting techniques.
“Using this knowledge, he has devised his own single acting technique which I found very accessible and helpful in improving my own acting skills.
“I enjoyed David’s course so much that I went on to complete two terms of his Actors Friday Studio workshops afterwards! I have since gone on to find work professionally as an actor, and definitely credit David Scott with helping me to do that!”
The cost for KATS members is €80 and for non- members is €95. To register email katstheatregroup@gmail.com
