Loreto Secondary School, Kilkenny 1-0 Moville Community College

Emma Hogan (51')

Loreto secondary school, Kilkenny struck the decisive goal a minute into extra time to see past Ulster starlets Moville Community College last Thursday in Cootehill Harps AFC (May 11).

The versatile Sofia Blackmore swapped her goalkeeper jersey to venture outfield for a period in the game and the tactic worked wonders as she set up Hogan for the goal seconds in.

The two sides were well matched but they failed to produce any opportunities in front of goal. Ailbhe Ní Chasaide was the talismans for the Kilkenny school but Abbee McNamee had to be on her game to deny the youngster early in the second half.

Ema Vasiliduskaite and Evangeline McDermott came close to equalising later on but Blackmore returned between the sticks to keep the clean sheet in tact.

Meanwhile the other semi-final outing two days previous saw Presentation College, Athenry defeat Presentation Secondary School, Thurles in Limerick. Sinead Feeney converted after fifteen minutes and their tally was doubled ten minutes into the second half courtesy of Abbie Duffy.

This sets up for a tantalising Cup decider which will take place in Leah Victoria Park, Tullamore at 1pm next Wednesday, May 24.

Athenry are defending Champions so it should make for interesting viewing.
