Ireland won the Nations Cup in Rome at the weekend for the first time in its 90 year history.
Mikey Pender rode HHS Calis, owned by Marion Hughes from Cuffsgrange
The winning team in this coveted five star grand prix show had very strong Kilkenny connections with Marion Hughes from Cuffsgrange, HHS Calis, ridden by Mikey Pender and bred by the late Ita Brennan from Gowran.
Inistioge young rider Jack Ryan was also part of the winning team when he rode BBS Mc Gregor, bred and owned by his mother and local woman Marguerite Ryan. What an achievement for these young riders on the world stage.

Making up the rest of the team was Michael Duffy from Mayo, Denis Lynch from Tipperary and Co Clare native chef d'equipe Michael Blake.
