North Kilkenny councillor Michael McCarthy
A big boost is on the way for Freshford, with confimation that Freshford Health Centre is set to benefit with internal reconfiguration works scheduled - plus a new extension of around 150sqm.
It follows details of the HSE Capital Plan 2023 announced in the past week.
The extension will include new clinical rooms for practice nurses and GPs. Local councillor Michael McCarthy, a member of the Southern Health Board, says there will also be an expansion of the carpark and an entrance realignment.
“It’s terrific that many of my representations over the last number of years have come to fruition," said Cllr McCarthy.
"This news is particularly welcome for the Beckett family for their commitment over the years and who continue to provide trojan service to the community and who also have been campaigning for improvements for years.
"The community in Freshford and surrounding area will now have a healthcare centre fit-for-purpose, with a quality service to match. Roll on with the work.”
