New app launched to cut down on food waste in Kilkenny

‘Too Good To Go,’ the free app that lets customers buy unsold food from retailers and restaurants in order to reduce food waste, has introduced a number of partners in Kilkenny.

People living in Kilkenny can set their geolocation on the app and see businesses that have ‘surprise bags’ available to sell at an allotted time.

Available outlets in the city include: Aldi, Applegreen, Caffé Nero, and Daybreak.

‘Too Good To Go’ was founded in 2016 and is available in 17 countries.

To date, the company has saved over 320,000 ‘surprise bags’ of food from going to waste in Ireland.

To avail of the service, consumers can download the free ‘Too Good To Go’ app and search for nearby businesses with unsold produce. They then purchase a ‘surprise bag’ and collect it at an allotted time.
