"I was a Water Baby" exhibition opens in Thomastown this weekend

Pier Fishing by Krisztina Rozanich

I Was a Water Baby, the new exhibition from Krisztina Rozanich, opens at the old salon on Market Street, Thomastown on Friday (August 11).

The exhibition is a personal exploration focusing on Krisztina’s childhood memories spent around water in Venezuela and Texas. The work delves into both the nostalgia and significance of past experiences while touching on broader themes related to climate change and social shifts, such as changes in technology, urbanisation, and evolving social values.

By examining her own childhood and its connection to the water, Krisztina aims to draw attention to how the world has transformed over time and the changes that have occurred in both the environment and society.

Her reflection serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving natural resources and the urgency of addressing climate-related challenges for the sake of future generations.

Memories

Through her exploration of her childhood memories and their connection to water, Krisztina highlights the interconnectedness of individual experiences while inviting viewers to contemplate the value of preserving cherished childhood experiences , the need for better environmental stewardship, and the evolving nature of childhood itself in an ever changing world.

The focus on an individual’s unique mark highlights Krisztina’s belief in the importance of personal identity and artistic authenticity. Her description of her own mark as ‘happily quirky’ implies a sense of joy and delight in her artistic process.
The exhibition, hosted in conjunction with the Kilkenny Arts Festival, AKA and Thomastown Creative Arts Festival, runs from 10am to 6pm until August 20.
